Rev. Jonathan N. Gerstner is a pastor and a leader in ministry administration. His professional and academic interests include church history and Christian thought. Minister Jonathan N. Gerstner earned a PhD in theology or the history of Christianity from the University of Chicago Divinity School.

In his dissertation, Pastor Jonathan N. Gerstner analyzed how theological beliefs influenced the formation of group identity among early European settlers in South Africa and examined how these identities contributed to the development and justification of apartheid policies. Beyond this South African research, he studied Dutch Reformed Covenant Theology at the University of Utrecht under Professor C. Graafland and conducted research on Christianity during the Dutch Colonial Period at the University of Stellenbosch.
